History of the URF Program
- The URF program began in 1998, and has supported eight cohorts thus far, comprising 26 students in majors
including Anthropology/Archaeology, Art History, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Communication Disorders & Sciences,
Comparative Literature, Economics, Education, English, Environmental Science, Geography, Human Physiology, Mathematics, and Psychology.
- We have been able to keep in contact with 17 of the 23 former URF students who have graduated from the UO. Of those
students, nine have either earned or are pursuing Master's degrees, two are pursuing Doctorate degrees, one is in dental
school and two are applying to medical schools. Four other students plan to pursue graduate school in the future.
- Graduates of the URF program have won numerous awards and fellowships, including a Fulbright Fellowship.
- Several URF students extended their research experiences with their mentors and are listed as authors or co-authors on
articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
- For the 2005-06 academic year, we had 21 qualified applicants with an average GPA of 3.76.
